Curriculum Backstory

Dear Economics Awareness Students!

We have noticed that around our area and beyond, there have been a lack of finance and economics classes, geared towards middle-and-high school students. Unfortunately, this also leads to poor financial literacy skills, causing young students to be unprepared in life beyond high school. We also know students come from all backgrounds and all walks of life. We want to ensure that each student get the same opportunity- being able to be financially literate- it is the basis of financial wellbeing and can help them greatly in the future. If they are not financially literate, students may struggle to manage their finances, be unsure of how to save and invest, and find the right insurance for them. This is why there is a problem, and a gap that needs to be solved.

To combat this problem, we decided to offer professional speaker-led sessions via Zoom on topics such as personal finances, budgeting, investments, and more. We have also decided to create chapters. But we think that is not enough- so we decided to do something even greater to further our impact to students in our community, which leads to why we created this curriculum: to help more students, including you learn more and improve your financial literacy skills!
